UM, I WOULD FIRST LIKE TO GIVE A COMMUNITY UPDATE OF SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES AND NONPROFITS THAT WE HAVE BEEN, UM, INVOLVED WITH SINCE OUR PAST RECENT UPDATE.

UM, OVER THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS, WE DELIVERED OVER A HUNDRED CARE PACKAGES FROM CIVILIAN TASK FORCE TO LOCAL CHURCHES FOR

THEIR DISTRIBUTION.

WE ALSO SUPPORTED, UM, COMMUNITY CARE PRAYER OUTREACH TO HELP UTILITY BILL FOR PAYMENT FOR PORT ARTHUR RESIDENTS.

AND THEY'RE PARTNERING WITH THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR TO IDENTIFY THOSE THAT NEED SUPPORT IN THAT AREA.

UM, ALSO IN 2023, WE COMPLETED 200 COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

SO WE'RE VERY APPRECIATIVE OF MOTIVA AND OUR VOLUNTEERS AND THE WONDERFUL NONPROFITS THAT WE HAVE HERE LOCATED IN THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE.

A FEW OF OUR PROJECTS TURNED INTO ANNUAL SUPPORT, LIKE THE FIRST RESPONDER GRANTS THAT PORT ARTHUR WAS A RECIPIENT OF TO RECEIVE LIFESAVING EQUIPMENT OR THE SYMPHONY OF THE SOUTHEAST TEXAS EVENT HERE IN PORT ARTHUR.

AND THIS YEAR WAS A FANTASTIC EVENT THAT FEATURED ONE OF A PORT ARTHUR'S OWN GLEN ALEXANDER.

SO WE'RE APPRECIATIVE THAT SOME OF THESE INITIATIVES ARE NOW ANNUAL EVENTS THAT TAKE PLACE IN PORT ARTHUR.

UM, WE ARE PARTICIPATING IN WORKFORCE AND JOB TRAINING ACTIVITIES IN 2024.

WE'VE HAD AN ENGINEER JOB SHADOW LUNCH WHERE MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED.

OUR WELDING STUDENTS AT PORT ARTHUR ISD JUST HAD A PHENOMENAL SHOWING OVER IN HOUSTON.

AND I WON'T SHARE ALL THE NEWS, BUT WE'RE VERY EXCITED FOR THEM.

AND, UM, THIS YEAR WE ARE GRADUATING MENTORS FROM MOTIVA'S ASPIRE STUDENT MENTORING PROGRAM.

AND IN THE YEAR 2023, WE HAD OVER 800 VOLUNTEER HOURS OF A MOTIVA EMPLOYEE MATCHED WITH A JUNIOR OR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN PORT ARTHUR ISD THEY MENTOR FOR TWO YEARS.

AND WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THAT PROGRAM.

WE'RE ABOUT TO START THE FOURTH YEAR.

SO ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, WE'VE BEEN VERY BUSY WORKING WITH OUR NEAR NEIGHBORS AND LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS IN PORT ARTHUR.

AND I KNOW TODAY THAT Y'ALL WOULD LIKE TO ALSO HEAR AN UPDATE FROM OUR DOWNTOWN, UM, PROJECT ON THE ADAMS BUILDING.

SO I BROUGHT CHAD ALLEN TODAY, HE'S THE SENIOR MANAGER OF CAPITAL PROJECTS FOR MOTIVA, AND HE GAVE THE LAST UPDATE.

SO WE HAVE SOME PICTURES AND EVERYTHING TO SHOW YOU GUYS.

UH, WE'LL START OFF.

UH, SO SINCE THE LAST UPDATE, WE'VE COMPLETED ALL THE, UH, STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING, UH, ON THE BUILDING.

THIS IS A PICTURE OF WHAT THE, UH, ADAMS BUILDING WILL LOOK LIKE, UH, WHEN IT'S COMPLETED.

UH, GOAL IS TO GET THIS WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH THE HISTORIC SOCIETY TO, UH, GET ALL THE MATCH, UH, MATERIAL THAT WAS THERE A HUNDRED YEARS AGO, UH, REINSTALLED AND, AND ALL REPAIRED ON THE OUTSIDE.

SO WE'RE WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH THIS HISTORIC SOCIETY ON THAT.

AND GO TO THE NEXT PICTURE.

SO WHEN WE TALKED LAST TIME, WE WERE DOING ALL THE, UH, REVIEWS OF ALL THE UNDERGROUND MATERIALS AND DOING A FULL INSPECTION OF THE BUILDING.

WE'VE COMPLETED ALL THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING ON THAT AND WE'RE WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS.

WE MAKE THOSE REPAIRS AND WE'VE GOT SOME PICTURES OF THOSE REPAIR WORK.

UH, SO WE DID A FULL INSPECTION OF EVERY SINGLE BEAM AND COLUMN AND FLOOR IN THE BUILDING.

AND THESE ARE SOME PICTURES OF SOME OF THE REPAIRS.

UH, THIS PICTURE SHOWS WHERE THERE WERE CRACKS IN THE BEAMS. UH, SO THAT'S BEEN FULLY REPAIRED WITH GROUT.

UH, THE NEXT PICTURE SHOWS, UH, TYPICAL CONCRETE REPAIRS ON, UH, THE BEAMS. YOU CAN SEE THE NEW CONCRETE THERE.

SO, UH, THE TEAM WENT THROUGH AND CHECKED EVERY SINGLE BEAM AND COLUMN IN THE BUILDING.

WE CHIPPED OUT ALL THE OLD CONCRETE, REPAIRED THE REBAR, AND THEN MADE IT STRUCTURALLY SOUND.

SO THEY'VE BEEN WORKING VERY CLOSELY TOGETHER.

IT'S A, IT'S A VERY, UH, TEDIOUS PROCESS.

UH, YOU CAN SEE A LOT OF THE SCAFFOLDING, UH, THAT GOES ON EITHER SIDE OF THOSE COLUMNS AS WE DO A REPAIR ONE AT A TIME.

SO EVERYBODY'S BEEN WORKING VERY SAFE AND, UH, VERY FOCUSED ON, ON GETTING THE WORK COMPLETED.

UH, RIGHT NOW WHAT WE HAVE GOING CONCURRENTLY IS ALL OF THE, UH, TRADES FOR MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING AND FIRE SPRINKLER ARE ALL WORKING RIGHT NOW IN A 3D MODEL WHERE THEY'RE, UH, DESIGNING OUT ALL OF THAT MATERIAL COLLABORATIVELY TOGETHER.

AND WE SHOULD HAVE ALL THIS MODELING DONE, UH, HERE IN THE COMING WEEKS.

AND THEN THOSE TRADES WILL START TO, TO GO TO WORK TOGETHER AND INSTALL ALL THAT, UH, EQUIPMENT.

SO WE'VE GOT SOME ELECTRICIANS AND PLUMBERS DOING WORK ON THE GROUND RIGHT NOW.

UM, BUT WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT GETTING THAT WORK STARTED IN THE SUMMERTIME.

MOST OF THE STRUCTURAL REPAIRS WILL BE DONE, UH, HERE ABOUT MID-AUGUST.

AND THEN WE'LL BEGIN THIS WORK INSIDE THE BUILDING, UH, AS WE GO FORWARD.

UH, WE'VE GOT A REPRESENTATIVE THAT WORKS VERY CLOSELY WITH THE HISTORIC SOCIETY, UH, TO MAKE SURE THAT WE GET ALL THE COLOR MATCHES

BUT I KEPT, I KEPT EXPLAINING THERE THINGS, THEY ARE HURDLES THAT YOU HAVE TO CLEAR THE HISTORICAL, YOU JUST CAN'T JUST GO, UH, WILLY-NILLY DOING THINGS.

HE WAS, WAS THE CEO OF THE INDUSTRY, CAME AND ASKED THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR TO EXTEND TAX ABATEMENT TO THE OIL INDUSTRY.

AND THAT STABILIZED.

AND THAT'S WHEN THEY STARTED ALL THESE EXPANSION.

THEY DIDN'T, JEFFERSON COUNTY DIDN'T, NOBODY HAD IT.

JEFFERSON COUNTY HAD.

SO WE EXTENDED IT TO THE INDUSTRY.

MOTIVA, TEXACO, ALL OF THESE, ALL INDUSTRIES STARTED EXPANDING.

NOW WE HAVE TO COMPETE, WE HAVE TO COMPETE WITH PASADENA OR TEXAS CITY LAKE CHARLES BATON ROUGE.

SO WE HAD TO HAVE SOMETHING TO ENTICE YOU ALL TO COME HERE, TO STAY HERE.

THERE'LL BE MINOR STRUCTURAL REPAIR THAT WE HAVE TO DO THAT'LL, THAT'LL TAPER OFF INTO DECEMBER THIS YEAR.

BUT GETTING THE MAJOR REPAIRS OUT OF THE WAY WILL ALLOW THE OTHER CONTRACTORS TO COME INTO THE BUILDING AND START DOING THEIR WORK.

AND ALSO, WHAT IS THE TOTAL, UH, COMPLETION DATE FOR THE PROJECT IN A WHOLE? UH, WE'RE STILL TARGETING THE, UH, END OF 2025 FOR, FOR BEING, BEING ABLE TO MOVE FURNITURE AND, AND, AND STUFF INTO THE BUILDING.

SO THAT'S OUR GOAL.

AND ALSO, DO YOU FORESEE ANY OTHER MAJOR PROBLEMS THAT YOU MAY ENDURE? MATERIALS COST, ANYTHING LIKE THAT? THAT, UH, YEAH.
